Artificial Intelligence Tools Used to Strengthen the Development of Scientific and Academic Research: The Case of Smartpaper.AI In Latin America

El presente trabajo penetra en torno al progreso tecnológico en general, y al desarrollo de la inteligencia artificial (IA) en específico, considerando, así mismo, las ventajas y los retos que dicho avance impone a la sociedad contemporánea. Así, el objetivo general del artículo consiste en exponer el impacto de la IA y el desarrollo de investigaciones científicas y académicas. Y, específicamente, se reseña el novedoso caso de SmartPaper.AI, una pionera aplicación web desarrollada por Smartpaper SPA, en tanto herramienta de IA orientada al fortalecimiento del desarrollo de investigaciones científicas y a la asistencia de investigadores, académicos y estudiantes, desde América Latina y con cobertura mundial. Con el empleo del caso de estudio y el apoyo del análisis documental, se concluye que SmartPaper.AI, en tanto herramienta de IA orientada al trabajo académico, constituye un destacado aporte a la comunidad científica, puesto que permite asimilar y generar información; posibilita reducir los tiempos de producción académica; y potenciar el trabajo de los académicos e investigadores al coadyuvar a hacer la investigación más accesible, más eficiente y democrática, sin perder de vista que esta innovación tecnológica no viene a substituir ni a reemplazar al investigador, sino a potenciarlo.This article explores the technological advances in general, and the development of artificial intelligence specifically, considering the advantages and challenges that such progress imposes on contemporary society. In this respect, the general objective of this paper is to expose the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and the development of scientific and academic research. And, specifically, the novel case of SmartPaper.AI is reviewed, a pioneering web application developed by Smartpaper SPA, as an AI tool aimed at strengthening the development of scientific research and assisting researchers, academics and students, from Latin America and with worldwide coverage. With the use of the case study and the support of the documentary análisis -as an AI tool oriented to academic work-, it is concluded that SmartPaper.AI constitutes an outstanding contribution to the scientific community since it allows the assimilation and generation of information; makes it possible to reduce academic production times; and enhance the work of academics and researchers by helping to make research more accessible, more efficient and more democratic, without losing sight of the fact that this technological innovation does not come to replace or replace the researcher, but rather to empower him
