Relación entre fortalezas de carácter y personalidad

The purpose of this narrative literature review article was to define the variables of character and personality strengths, within the field of positive psychology, and to investigate the relationship established between them. For this purpose, different sources of information were analyzed and studies by different authors were compiled. Mainly updated academic research articles were consulted, most of them no older than five years. Thus, the proposed analysis first addresses the construct of character strengths and their meanings, within the field of positive psychology, understood as universally recognized psychological mechanisms through which virtues are displayed. Then, that of personality, understood as the determinant organization of the behavior of individuals, in how they perceive themselves and the world around them. Finally, some relationships studied to date on the link between the two variables were addressed. In conclusion, it was observed that character strengths influence how people feel and act, and this has an impact on the way they see and approach the world. At the same time, finally, the aforementioned character strengths contribute positively to personality development.El presente artículo de revisión bibliográfica narrativa se propuso definir las variables de fortalezas de carácter y personalidad, dentro del ámbito de la psicología positiva, e indagar la relación establecida entre ambas. Para ello, se analizaron diferentes fuentes de información y se recopilaron estudios de distintos autores. Principalmente se consultaron artículos de investigación académica actualizados, en su mayoría con una antigí¼edad no mayor a cinco años. Así, el análisis propuesto aborda primero el constructo de fortalezas de carácter y sus significados, dentro del campo de la psicología positiva, entendido como mecanismos psicológicos reconocidos universalmente, por medio de los cuales las virtudes se muestran. Luego, el de personalidad, entendido como la organización determinante del comportamiento de los individuos, en cómo se perciben a sí mismos y al mundo que los rodea. Finalmente, se abordaron algunas relaciones estudiadas hasta la fecha sobre el vínculo entre ambas variables. En conclusión, se observó que las fortalezas de carácter influyen en cómo sienten y actúan las personas y ello repercute en su modo de ver y encarar el mundo.
