Islamic religion was and remains one of the factors of political unity of Arabs, but it is not the case on the legislative level because of the Islamic vision of law according to which God made for every community a law that must govern it. This is the system of the personality of laws and jurisdictions fixed by the Koran. This system ended after the creation of the modern Turkey which abolished the religious laws and courts and instituted unified legislative and judicial system governing all its citizens, regardless of their religion. But other countries which were part of the Ottoman empire continue to apply it.
