This article explores the governance of Autonomous Public Universities in Indonesia, known as PTNBH, to achieve international recognition and reputation in the World Class University (WCU) scheme. To obtain a comprehensive and in-depth understanding, this study employed a qualitative approach with a single case study design. The data collected were secondary data from documents and literature. This research closely analyzed governance at Universitas Indonesia (UI). Universitas Indonesia has de facto implemented academic and non-academic autonomy for almost 20 years.
