Surprisingly, the reduction of the rural population in France has stopped, and this population is now increasing. Although there are some problems of interpretation of statistical date, the reality of the phenomenon is certain. But the evolution is different in the rural regions situated near small and middle size towns, where population grows rapidly, and in more isolated rural communities, where population still decreases in many cases.
