The employment situation in 1971 . by Bruno DURIEUX In 1971, the number of wage earners has increased, as has industrial output, at a rate which appears reasonably high, though slightly lower than the rate forecast in the Plan. This is the conclusion we may draw from the information available today. The number of people seeking work, as registered by the ministry of Labor, has increased from 322 000 to 398 000 between the beginning and the end of 1971. A small part of this increase can be attributed to a progressively more effective impact of the «Agence nationale de l'emploi » (+13 000).
