The employment and unemployment situation at the end of 1980 - The volume of hours worked has not increased in France since 1975. This results from the tendency of the working week to settle at around 40 hours and from the near stability of the numbers employed. However, the work force is undergoing a phase of high growth, for although young people tend to delay entering the work force, the number of women between 25 and 49 on the job market has shown a relative-growth.
