The age pyramid of the Soviet Union according to the Census of 1979 (as published by M Feshbach : official data unavailable) contains some incoherencies (in the report on the male population for instance), which suggest probable irregularities in the recording of the data. Based on a reconstitution of the age pyramid of this and preceeding censuses (1959 and 1970) by single years of age, it was possible to estimate various series of probabilities of survival (between censuses and for cohorts).
