After the seedlings are budded they are grown in nursery rows until orange or grapefruit trunks are from seven-eights to an inch and a half in diameter. Then the young trees are taken up. The rich soil is left in a ball around the roots and burlap is wrapped around the ball to preserve moisture and hold soil together.
