Summary The aim of this experiment is to study the evolution of representative space, between 3.6 and 7 years of age, through graphic reconstruction of configuration, involving the same spatial characteristics as writing (adjacency, order, positioning, linearity). Successive stages, each with its own particular structure, have thus been identified. First, fragments are taken into account without any established relation between parts and the whole. Then adjacency order and linearity are progressively coordinated, followed by a final organi-zation integrating all the parts and their relations (especially space positioning) into a complex whole.
