Weight loss in cancer occurs both through disease and treatment. The objective was to evaluate the nutritional knowledge of cancer patients and their nutritional status. This was an observational, descriptive study of 50 cancer patients, over 19 years old, admitted to a public hospital in the interior of São Paulo. Nutritional knowledge, anthropometric profile and weight loss were evaluated.
