Molekularbiologische und biochemische Untersuchungen der Aminocoumarinbiosynthesegencluster haben zu einem detaillierten Verständnis über die Biosynthese dieser Antibiotika geführt. So konnte für nahezu alle Gene des Clorobiocingenclusters eine katalytische, regulatorische oder an Resistenzmechanismen beteiligte Funktion bewiesen werden.
