Mindfulness meditation therapies such as MBSR and MBCT have rapidly become popular treatments for psychopathology such as anxiety, or depression. One may wonder whether the implementation of mindfulness based treatments within mental health care is premature given current research. But Schroevers et al. (2011) and Nyklicek (2011) argue that research shows that mindfulness meditation is a promising therapeutic tool. It is true that mindfulness based treatments appear to be better than doing nothing, but so is any placebo treatment.
