In March 2021, the National Taskforce for Human Rights Leadership in Scotland recommended a new legal framework that will bring into law a range of internationally recognised human rights, with the aim of strengthening the enjoyment of human rights in people's everyday lives. The Scottish Government accepted all of the recommendations. The new legal framework will incorporate four international human rights treaties: the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
