The Eastern Caribbean region has witnessed a changing climatic regime in the last two to three decades, with an increased frequency and intensity of extreme climate events and related disasters. As a result, many people have been affected, and often they are forced to move either internally or to other States and territories within the region. For example, during the hurricane season of 2017 alone, Hurricanes Irma, Harvey and Maria displaced approximately 3 million people across 16 countries in the Caribbean and the United States of America.
