The blue is for the blue skies which are very common in Utah, the white is for the abundant snow we have for much of the year, and the red is for our famous red rocks. The beehive is a famous symbol of Utah and ties very much into our history, and the star in the left top symbolizes the union of the United States being above all else. This is both very relevant with regards to Utah history and that the union Utah has with the other states is more important than ever
