Commercio, stati e mercanti nel lungo Settecento

This review analyzes the importance of commercial treaties and invites examination of the contexts of their genesis and formation. If the topic has been often studied in a sectorial way (economics, politics, ideas), the recognition of the overall role played by treaties in the eighteenth-century commercial order offers a privileged access point to understand the relationships between theory and practice and between the political and economic spheres. Finally, it allows us to revisit some aspects of the eighteenth-century economy such as the advent of manufacturing capitalism or the relations and conflicts between state and merchants
