Introduction : Relatively few patients with a malunited distal radius fracture need a corrective osteotomy or salvage procedure. The purpose of the study was to find specific radiological features in wrists of patients who had an additional operation in comparison with patients with malunion without secondary surgical intervention. Patients and methods : Wrist X-rays of 63 malunited distal radius fractures (sustained between May 2008 and June 2010) without additional surgery and X-rays of 42 patients who needed an additional surgical procedure at least 3 months following a distal radius fracture were compared.
