The question guiding this dissertation is: what do we manage with uniformity of clothing? More specifically, how does uniformity of clothing (including actual uniforms) manage our sensing, feeling bodies, our sense of self (subjectivity), and social interaction (intersubjectivity)? Through theory, method, and analysis, my work here collapses dualities of mind and matter, object and subject, body and clothing, not merely as an intellectual exercise but as a development of a potential site of negotiating ethical action.
