La métrologie a permis de définir des standards qui ont grandement bénéficié aux mesures dites physiques, sur lesquelles sont basés la plupart des critères de jugement des essais cliniques. L’utilisation croissante des échelles patients ou mesures « patient-reported outcomes » (PROs) dans les essais cliniques rend plus que jamais souhaitable l’amélioration de leur fiabilité et de leur interprétabilité, afin d’atteindre le même niveau de crédibilité que les critères de jugement classiques. L’objectif de ce travail est ainsi d’explorer les apports de la métrologie pour l’évaluation des traitements par les critères de jugement PROs des essais cliniques.
