Autoeficacia y estrés académico en estudiantes universitarios

Higher education is a stage of new experiences, according to the way they are faced, it can be a challenge to overcome or something overwhelming, so self-efficacy about the individual's capabilities plays an important role as a protector against stress. The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between academic self-efficacy and academic stress in university students. The study was approached by means of a non-experimental design, quantitative approach, descriptive-correlational and cross-sectional type. A total of 239 students between 18 and 26 years of age participated, distributed in eight semesters and selected by non-probabilistic convenience sampling. The Inventory of Academic Self-Efficacy Expectations (IEAA) and the Systemic Cognitive Inventory for the study of academic stress in its second version of 21 items were applied. The results established that there is no correlation between academic self-efficacy and academic stress (Rho=-0.011, p>0.05). A medium level of academic self-efficacy was determined to be present in 69.9% of the study population and a moderate level of academic stress corresponding to 76.6%. The mean academic stress score in students of initial semesters (64.4) was not significantly different in the final semesters (62.0).  La educación superior supone una etapa de nuevas experiencias, de acuerdo al modo en que se afronten puede ser un desafío a superar o algo desbordante, por lo que la autoeficacia sobre las capacidades del individuo cumple un rol importante como protector ante el estrés. El objetivo del estudio fue determinar la relación entre la autoeficacia académica y el estrés académico en estudiantes universitarios. El estudio se abordó mediante un diseño no experimental, enfoque cuantitativo de tipo descriptivo-correlacional y de corte transversal. Participaron 239 estudiantes con edades entre 18 y 26 años, repartidos en ocho semestres y seleccionados por muestreo no probabilístico por conveniencia. Se aplicó el Inventario de expectativas de autoeficacia académica (IEAA) y el Inventario Sistémico Cognoscitivista para el estudio del estrés académico en su segunda versión de 21 ítems. Los resultados establecieron que no existe correlación entre la autoeficacia académica y el estrés académico (Rho=-0.011, p>0.05). Se determinó un nivel medio de autoeficacia académica estando presente en el 69.9% de la población de estudio y un nivel de estrés académico moderado correspondiente al 76.6 %. Las medias de puntuación de estrés académico en estudiantes de semestres iniciales (64.4) no fue significativamente distinta en los semestres finales (62.0). &nbsp
