Autoestima y su relación con la ideación suicida en estudiantes universitarios

One of the risk factors that can be linked to suicidal ideation is self-esteem, therefore the objective of the research was to determine the relationship between self-esteem and suicidal ideation in college students. The methodology implemented had a quantitative approach of correlational type, non-experimental design, cross-sectional, which was applied to 110 university students aged between 20 and 24 years selected by a non-probabilistic sampling by convenience where 73.6% were women and 26.4% were men. The Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (EAR) and the Positive and Negative Suicidal Ideation Inventory (PANSI) were applied. The results showed a positive correlation between self-esteem and positive suicidal ideation (p<0.001), indicating that the higher the self-esteem the higher the positive suicidal ideation, while between self-esteem and negative suicidal ideation a negative correlation was found (p<0.001), showing that the higher the self-esteem the lower the negative suicidal ideation.Uno de los factores de riesgo que se pueden vincular con la ideación suicida es la autoestima, por esto el objetivo de la investigación fue determinar la relación entre el autoestima e ideación suicida en los estudiantes universitarios. La metodología que se implementó tuvo un enfoque cuantitativo de tipo correlacional, diseño no experimental, corte transversal, la cual se aplicó a 110 estudiantes universitarios en edades comprendidas entre 20 a 24 años seleccionados por un muestreo no probabilístico por conveniencia en donde el 73,6% fueron mujeres y el 26,4% fueron hombres. Se aplicó la Escala de autoestima de Rosenberg (EAR) y el Inventario de Ideación Suicida Positiva y Negativa (PANSI). Los resultados determinaron correlación positiva entre la autoestima e ideación suicida positiva (p<0,001) lo que indica que a mayor autoestima mayor ideación suicida positiva, mientras que entre la autoestima e ideación suicida negativa se encontró una correlación negativa (p<0,001) lo que demuestra que a mayor autoestima menor ideación suicida negativa
