Wir stellen die Hauptargumente des Buchs anhand dreier von uns herausgearbeiteter und zum Teil ineinander verwobener analytischer beziehungsweise strategischer Rahmungen dar: Horten, Sich-Entziehen und Bewältigen. Anschließend diskutieren wir, wie es dem Buch gelingt, Geschichte und Gegenwart von marginalisierten Positionen aus zu erzählen – ohne Identität und die zu ihrer Beschreibung und Dokumentation verwendeten Begriffe zu essenzialisieren oder zu universalisieren –, und welche Spannungen damit verbunden sind.This review of the anthology AIDS and the distribution of crises, edited by Jih-Fei Cheng, Alexandra Juhasz and Nishant Shahani, locates the book in recent literature on the cultural politics of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, and expands on some of its arguments to offer new direction for conceptually grasping distributions of crisis in relation to COVID-19. We present the book’s main arguments according to what we have extracted to be three of its somewhat overlapping strategic or analytical frameworks: hoarding, evading and repairing. We follow with a reflection about the book’s engagement with, and tensions around, narrating history and the present from marginalised positions without essentialising and universalising identity and the terms used to describe or document it
