This article analyzes the ideas of barbarians and barbarism from Herodotus to Alphonse X. Starting with the oppositions between center and periphery, and civilization and barbarism, the following themes are studied: sedentary lifestyle and nomadism, myths and history of the region of Colchis, and the inverse ethnocentrism in relation with the scythes.En este artículo se estudian las ideas de bárbaros y barbarie desde Heródoto hasta Alfonso X.
