Introduction: due to the characteristics of the human immunodeficiency virus and the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS), the dentistry professionals play an important role in early detecting their manifestations and in preventing transmission. Objective: to update the knowledge of Dentistry students about HIV/AIDS in students.Material and method: an intervention-action study was carried out with the 93 students of first and second academic years majoring in Dentistry in Pinar del Río, in the period from October 2012 to June 2013.
