This chapter considers a very special form of translation, that of phraseological calquing from one language to another. Different areas of potential interest within the study of calquing are delineated, and a summary is given of the work which has so far been carried out in this field as regards the influence of English on Italian. Further areas covered are the difficulties inherent to carrying out research in this area of study, and exemplification of potential calques which have not yet been discussed in the literature
