Tours de main et styles : le modelage dans la coroplastie chypriote archaïque

International audienceIn studies pertaining to the coroplastic art of Archaic Cyprus, handmade terracotta figurines usually constitute a special category, excluded from stylistic approaches. However, when modelling techniques are precisely examined, it becomes possible to distinguish specific gestures, specific skills, which are characteristic of distinct workshops. Handmade figurines can also be studied and classified according to stylistic criteria. Stemming from technical observations, this paper aims at defining different handmade productions that can be attributed to different Cypriot workshops active in different regions of the island during the Archaic period.Le modelage est régulièrement considéré à part, sinon exclu des études consacrées à la coroplastie chypriote archaïque. Or, un examen précis des techniques de façonnage permet de distinguer des gestes, des tours de main qui caractérisent des productions régionales distinctes. Les figurines modelées n'échappent pas au style. A partir d'observations techniques, on propose de distinguer dans cet article les productions modelées de différents ateliers chypriotes d'époque archaïque
