COMMENT: Formerly included in Nectomys; Gardner and Patton, 1976, Occas. Pap. Mus. Zool. La. St. Univ., 49:16- 17, placed alfari in Oryzomys (Sigmodontomys). Corbet and Hill, 1980: 144, included alfari in russulus, without comment. Hall, 1981:623, considered alfari a distinct species. Includes russulus; see Cabrera, 1961:418, and Hershkovitz, 1970, J.
