tci20110817 - Nge fathasi

This dataset contains files recorded from Abia Bai who talks about a ceremony in Rouku village, Western Province, Papua New Guinea. The ceremony took place two days after the recording was made. The ceremony is about a wedding and a children's holding (nge fathasi) that is going to take place at the same time. Children are lifted up and held for the first time after their birth by their relatives and their namesakes. The dataset includes: audio file (tci20110817a.wav) transcription file (tci20110817a.eaf) Note that the transcription file in this record is not up to date! For an updated version of this file, please download the most recent version of the Komnzo text corpus as a zip-file under 10.5281/zenodo.1306246 The material was recorded by Christian Döhler as part of a language documentation project for his PhD. The project was located at the School of Culture, History and Language at the Australian National University, Canberra.
