The first modern edition of Juan Tomás Porcell’s Treaty of Plague (Zaragoza, 1565), with an introduction, translation and textual notes. The book is one of the most meaningful examples of the Spanish Renaissance scientific literature and describes the personal experience of the author, originally from Sardinia, as a physician in the General Hospital of Zaragoza. The systematic study of the disease earned Porcell be considered a milestone in history of medicine
