Saltella parmensis Rondani, 1874 ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1874d: 13. TYPE LOCALITY: “ in agro parmensi et pedemontano [Parmese territory and Piedmont (Italy)]”. CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Saltella sphondylii (Schrank, 1803) (Zuska & Pont 1984: 158, Pont & Meier 2002: 28, 114). REMARKS: Rondani (1874d: 13) described both sexes of Saltella parmensis without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens, but presumably from more than one specimen because he stated: “ non raro legitur [found not rarely]”. Pont & Meier (2002: 114) reported an unspecified number of syntypes in the MZUF and one male syntype in the OUMNH without publishing any lectotype designation.
