The paper describes language and content integrated pedagogic strategies adopted aimed at creating a E-Learning Environment (DELE) to hook Italian young and adult deaf learners to content based written texts for academic purposes. In the attempt to cater for comprehension and production difficulties of deaf learners and engaging them in meaningful tasks during navigation, we opted for an interactive environment where materials and resources could be flexibly accessed. Incorporating principles derived from embodied semantics, storytelling and web accessibility, DELE adopts text easification strategies and CLIL approach for deaf learners
