31P NMR spectroscopy was used to test phosphate metabolites as indexes of viability of isolated organs to be transplanted. Qual. and quant. analyses of phosphate metabolites were performed at different times and solns. of preservation. Quant. anal. was carried out by a deconvolution program of exptl. NMR curves. In the considered exptl. conditions, ADP was a possible index for viability of organs. On this basis, NMR results were compared with histol. data. Good agreement was obsd. between spectroscopic and morphol. data
