STUDI LITERATUR POTENSI EKSTRAK DAUN JAMBU BIJI (Psidium guajava L.) SEBAGAI ANTIDIABETES

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease characterized by an increase in blood glucose levels or called hyperglycemia caused by impaired insulin secretion and activity. Diabetes mellitus is a disorder in which the body cannot effectively release or utilize insulin, resulting in excessive blood glucose levels (Smeltzer et al., 2013; Kowalak, 2011). Obtain data on the content of secondary metabolites of guava leaf extract and the mechanism of compounds that have antidiabetic effectiveness. Using a descriptive qualitative research methodology, namely the study of literature. This study uses databases from web journals such as Google Scholar, Researchgate, ScienceDirect and Pubmed. The compound or content of active secondary metabolites from Guava Leaves (Psidium guajava Leaves) contained in several articles that act as antidiabetic which is very instrumental in providing anti-diabetic activity is generally from the flavonoid group. The mechanism of flavonoid metabolite compounds is associated with the inhibition of the glucose absorption process by inhibiting -glucosidase and can release insulin in pancreatic cells which results in a reduction in the occurrence of hyperglycemia
