Brazilian pine nuts\u2019 production in Ca\ue7ador\u2019s region, SC: aspects of the attainment and its importance for local communities

O presente estudo objetivou caracterizar aspectos da obten\ue7\ue3o de pinh\ue3o e sua import\ue2ncia como fonte de renda para comunidades locais. Para tanto, foram realizados estudos visando \ue0 produ\ue7\ue3o de pinh\ue3o numa popula\ue7\ue3o natural (RGFC \u2013 Reserva Gen\ue9tica Florestal de Ca\ue7ador) e num reflorestamento com arauc\ue1ria (FLONA \u2013 Floresta Nacional de Ca\ue7ador); identificar o perfil dos coletores de pinh\ue3o no Distrito de Taquara Verde, seu conhecimento acerca do recurso e a import\ue2ncia dessa fonte de renda para eles. Para tanto, foram marcados 36 indiv\uedduos femininos de arauc\ue1ria na Flona e 25 RGFC. A produ\ue7\ue3o de pinh\ue3o foi estimada com base na contagem do n\ufamero de plantas femininas num hectare, n\ufamero de estr\uf3bilos por planta, n\ufamero de sementes por estr\uf3bilo e peso de sementes. E os demais objetivos foram feitos por meio de entrevistas abertas e semi-estruturadas com os coletores da Taquara Verde. Encontrou-se na \ue1rea da RGFC uma produ\ue7\ue3o de 44,3kg.ha-1 e Flona uma produ\ue7\ue3o de 24,6kg.ha-1, sendo as diferen\ue7as associadas \ue0 alta densidade da \ue1rea da Flona e a diferen\ue7a de idade das matrizes das \ue1reas. Quanto \ue0 import\ue2ncia do pinh\ue3o, constatou-se que este \ue9 tido pela comunidade como importante fonte de renda e de alimento podendo assim separar os coletores em quatro perfis, sendo observado tamb\ue9m que quanto mais dependente \ue9 a fam\uedlia do recurso como fonte de renda, maior \ue9 o n\ufamero de pessoas envolvidas na atividade, maior \ue9 a frequ\ueancia em que a atividade \ue9 praticada, mas n\ue3o necessariamente o conhecimento a cerca do recurso \ue9 maior. Por fim, os resultados deste estudo indicaram um bom potencial desse recurso para o incremento da renda de comunidades carentes, refor\ue7ando a import\ue2ncia dos remanescentes florestais na explora\ue7\ue3o de pinh\ue3o e trazendo subs\ueddios para o estabelecimento de pol\uedticas que possam efetivamente aliar uma valoriza\ue7\ue3o dos recursos florestais, o desenvolvimento destas comunidades junto com a conserva\ue7\ue3o dos remanescentes florestais.The present study had as objective to characterize aspects of the attainment and commercialization of the Brazilian-pine nut, as a resource capable to contribute for attainment of income and conservation of FOM. For this, studies were carried out aiming at: checking Brazilian-pine production on a natural population (RGFC \u2013 Genetic and Forest Reserve of Ca\ue7ador) and on a reforestation with Brazilian-pine (Flona- Ca\ue7ador\u2019s National Florest); identifying the profile of the Brazilian-pine nut\u2019s collectors in the District of Taquara Verde, Ca\ue7ador-SC \u2013 its knowledge about the resource and the importance of this resource as an income source. For this, 36 female Brazilian-pines were target in Flona and 25 in RGFC. Brazilian-pine nut production was estimated based on the number of female plants, number of cones per plant, number of nut per cone and nut weight. To the other objectives, interviews with the nut\u2019s collectors were made. The production found at RGFC was 44.3kg.ha-1 and at Flona was 24.6kg.ha-1, the difference was attributed to the higher density found at Flona. About the importance of Brazilian-pine nut to the community, it could be found out that this resource is very important both as an income source and food, allowing us to separate the collectors in four kinds of profile. The families which were more dependent on this resource as income, more often they collect and more people in the family are involved in the collection of the Brazilianpine nut, but not necessary they know more about it. The results of this study indicate a good potential of this resource to increase the household of poor communities, emphasizing the importance of natural areas to the exploration of Brazilian-pine nut and bringing subsidies for the establishment of politics that can effectively join a valuation of the forest resources, the communities\u2019 development together with nature conservation
