After The "golpe" that overthrew caceres in 1895, the novelist Clorinda Matto left Peru. This article explores her long and productive exile. In her writings, Clorinda continued with her defence of feminine emancipation and to imagine the Peruvian nation. This article analyses the Peru imagined by Matto in her books "Boreales, miniatures and porcelains" and "Viaje de recreo" and in her correspondence with Ricardo Palm
