New species of the genus Calocalanus (Copepoda, Calanoida) from the west part of the Mediterranean Sea

4 new species of the genus Calocalanus (Copepoda, Calanoida) are described from the western part of the Mediterranean Sea. C. vivesei sp. n. is very closely related to C. neptunus by the body form, abdomen size and structure but differs from it by the structure of legs of V pair (in C. neptunus they are more powerful and end by two long spines whereas in C. vivesei by one small spine). C. africanus sp. n. resembles С. fusiformis and C. fiolentus but differs from them by the lesser number of abdominal joints (3 vs..4), armorage of legs of V pair (1 spine vs. 2), as well as by much longer bristles on the 3rd joint of endopodite of natatorial legs of II—IV pairs. C. parelongatus sp. n. is closely related to C. elongatus but differs from it by the structure of V leg (3 joints vs. 2), absence of the crown of spines on the 2nd joint of endopodite of natatorial legs of II—IV pairs. C. alboranus sp. n. differs from the closely related C. longisetosus by the lesser number of abdominal joints (3 vs. 4) and structure of legs of V pair.В настоящее время известно 36 видов рода Calocalanus (Шмелева, 1978), Описываемые ниже 4 новых вида этого рода получены при обработке планктонных проб, собранных в 1974 г. в 9-м рейсе научно-исследовательского судна «Академик Вернадский» в Средиземное море. Пробы планктона взяты большой сетью Джеди (диаметр входного отверстия 36/50 см, газ № 49). Материал фиксировался 4%-ным формалином. Все голотипы и паратипы хранятся в Институте биологии южных морей АН УССР (Севастополь)
