Open Access (OA) refers to the free and immediate access to published information on the internet of primarily scientific and academic peer reviewed articles (Suber 2007). Made possible by the advent of new technologies such as the internet, the Open Access model advocates for the removal of restrictions to the access of journals and scholarly articles.
