Atypical swallowing: A revision

Estudio retrospectivo de revision bibliográfica sobre deglución atípica o infantil, cuyo propósito fue realizar una puesta al día sobre su etiología, secuelas, diagnóstico y tratamiento a partir de la literatura publicada en los últimos 20 años. De dicha indagación, se concluye que la deglución atípica es un hábito relativamente frecuente en la población infantil, que cursa preferentemente como interposición lingual, objetivable a la evaluación clínica fonoaudiológica cuyo tratamiento va a depender de la edad, características del paciente y consecuencias asociadas, con la intervención de un equipo interdisciplinario que garantice la rehabilitación del paciente.Retrospective study of literature review on atypical or infant swallowing, whose purpose was to update the etiology, sequelae, diagnosis and treatment from the literature published in the last 20 years. From this inquiry, it is concluded that atypical swallowing is a relatively frequent habit in children, which preferably occurs as a lingual interposition, objectivable to clinical evaluation in speech pathologist ,whose treatment will depend on age, patient characteristics and associated consequences, with the intervention of an interdisciplinary team that guarantees the rehabilitation of the patient
