Il lavoro si inquadra nell'analisi limite di strutture di blocchi rigidi con contatti monolateri dotati di attrito. Nella procedura numerica la presenza di attrito rende il problema non lineare e non convesso. Si dimostra che una opportuna scelta del valore iniziale delle variabili rende possibile la convergenza alla soluzione ottima. I valori iniziali sono ottenuti come soluzione di una procedura di ottimizzazione dello stesso assemblaggio di corpi con dilatanza al posto dell'attrito.
