The connection between literary studies and linguistics has always been controversial, especially regarding academic foreign language teaching. This article aims to demonstrate the connection between the two. The study involves a comparison of various texts from contemporary German literature with their Italian translation in order to analyze the linguistic variety (especially the diatopic, diastratic and diaphasic level) of the German language.
