The Ute Rangers, in formation. The Ute Rangers, headquartered in Murray, were a mounted posse for the Utah Highway Patrol. They drilled at the fairgrounds near Murray Park. In addition to assisting in search and rescue efforts, they served as a mounted escort for the Utah Governor, and would conduct drills, visit riding clubs, perform at events, and conduct events like barrel racing
