Janet Peery has recently joined the faculty of the creative writing program at Old Dominion. Her stories have won numerous awards, including two Pushcart Prizes and two Jeanne Charpiot Goodheart Prizes and her work appears in Best American Short Stories 1993, selected by Louise Erdrich. Her first book of short stories, Alligator Dance, received the Rosenthal Award of the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters. In addition, she has held fellowships for the National Endowment for the Arts and the Whiting Foundation. She earned her MFA from Wichita State University
