Danang is the most important city in the Central Vietnam. This role does not come naturally; It has to be well-supported by its inherent geographical location and the building of a solid foundation from the past. This article is a theoretical study, researching the history documents, data, administrative documents related to urban planning of Danang during the colonial period to analyse the French\'s strategic intention of urban planning and architecture in Danang during 1888-1950. What are the lessons they have brought to Da Nang today? Would comments on the management and development of Da Nang today be commensurate with what history has built up or not
