Widespread human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination could prevent most of the HPV-associated cancers diagnosed every year. Policy interventions have the potential to bring about population-level increases in HPV vaccination and a long-term reduction in HPV-associated disease burden. However, especially in the US, policy interventions have not been frequently employed and have faced varying levels of public resistance.
