Albany Department of Agriculture officer, Ron McTaggart recently gave a talk to a Perillup seminar on the topic, "Pasture Production Potential for the area". He maintained that the best fertiliser was the footprints of the farmer, and farmers need to look at the pastures and crops as they are growing to see potential problems early. The aim of pasture production, according to Mr McTaggart, included maximum total digestible nutritious matter, but advised that limiting factors of water, insects, nutrient change and plant diseases work against this.
