Natural radionuclides and Cs-137 were determined by alpha (U-238, U-234, Th-230, Po-210, Th-232, and Th-228) and gamma spectrometry (Cs-137, K-40, Ra-226, Pb-210, and Ra-228 via Ac-228) in 14 dried seaweeds commercialized for human nutrition in Italy. The study was carried out in order to provide information on the concentrations of natural and artificial radionuclides. Cesium-137 (Cs-137) concentrations in all analyzed samples were always <2.0 Bq kg(-1) (dry weight), while the naturally occurring radionuclide concentrations were detectable in all the samples and significantly different in the analyzed seaweeds.
