The GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) was created in 1981 during a delicate phase, both for the Arabian Peninsula and for the Gulf of Persia due to the war between Iran and Iraq (1980-1988). It involves six countries: Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar. Thanks to the creation of a network of diplomatic and socio-economic relations, one of the GCC’s goals was on the one hand to contain Iraqi Ba’athism and on the other, Iranian Shiite expansionism
