The objective of the paper is to propose an extended version of the GraphTool system. GraphTool supports graph modeling with the use of computer tools for graph creation and transformation. The new version works with layered graphs, in which related nodes are grouped together. It increases readability of graph diagrams and it seems to be a convenient method for process modeling. The paper presents the architecture and the data model of GraphTool, and illustrates them on an example of a layered graph to simulate generation and operations in a grid that realizes the concept of distributed computing
