Some geochemical, geochronological and petrophysical data on the ophiolitic massif from the Kizil Dagh Hatay-Turkey

This research note presents geochemical, geochronological and petrophysical data on the ophiolites from the Kizil Dagh massif in the Hatay (Turkey). They are formed by tectonites, cumulates, a sheeted complex and pillow lavas. 27 new analyses show that the chemical composition of the ophiolites is in agreement with the hypothesis of a partially melted pyrolite giving rise to a magma produced by fractionation processes. The provisional dating by K-Ar of gabbros from the southern part of the massif gives a middle (112.8 ± 4.0 m.yr) to upper (69.0 ± 2. 7 m.yr) cretaceous age; this age must be interpreted in relation to the metamorphic history of these ophiolites. The magnetic properties (JNRM, X, Qn) of the tectonites, cumulates and sheeted complex are similar to those of the Troodos massif (Cyprus).Cette note présente des résultats géochimiques, géochronométriques et petrophysiques sur la série ophiolitique du massif du Kizil Dagh - Hatay (Turquie) qui comporte des tectonites, des cumulats, un complexe de dykes et des laves en coussins. 27 nouvelles analyses confirment que le chimisme du massif est compatible avec l’hypothèse d'un pyrolite ayant subi une refusion partielle donnant naissance à un magma qui évolue par différenciation fractionnée. La datation provisoire par la méthode du K-Ar des gabbros du sud du massif indique un âge crétacé moyen (112,8 ± 4,0 m.a.) à crétacé supérieur (69,0 ± 2,7 m.a.); cet âge doit être interprété dans le cadre de l'histoire métamorphique de ces ophiolites. Les propriétés magnétiques (JNRM, X, Qn) des tectonites, des cumulats et du complexe de dykes du Kizil Dagh sont similaires à celles du massif du Troodos (Chypre)
